Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, is located on the country’s North Island. Nearly a third of New Zealand’s population resides in Auckland—over 3.1 million people. Auckland lies between the Maukau Harbor on the Tasman Sea and the Hauraki Gulf on the Pacific Ocean, the central urban area occupies a small isthmus.
